Welcome to the POLIN - Polish Jews Heritage portal, existing since 2006!
You will find here information and rich visual materials concerning places, where the Jewish life flourished before World War II. You can see pictures and movies presenting Jewish cemeteries, matzevot, synagogues and other monuments of Jewish culture. Links to each of the places will guide you through the history of local Jewish communities, most of which were destroyed by the Holocaust. At this moment the portal contains information on over 500 towns and cities (ultimately there will be 1,200 of them), as well as over 14 000 pictures and 140 movies.
Thanks to the Web 2.0 formula everybody may place on the portal their own texts and visual materials, which will be published on the website after the administrator’s acceptance. We cordially invite you to contribute to the POLIN webportal!
